A police garrison on the former Naihonroku Security Road, now Neibenlu Yueling Historic Trail (內本鹿越嶺古道), named for hot springs in the nearby riverbed of Beisijiu River (北絲鬮溪). In 1934 the area was renamed Kōyōdani (紅葉谷), now Hongye Village (紅葉村), where the hot springs remain a popular winter destination. The garrison served as the entry point to the interior, with documents arriving by vehicle and continuing onward by foot. It oversaw the nearby Bunun community of Wakakan (ワカガン) and housed a trading post, sanatorium, and an education center for Indigenous children. Archival photos show stone-walled terraces, timber buildings, and corrugated iron roofing typical of these mountain posts.
