Built sometime in the mid-Japanese colonial era by Chen Ming (陳明), former Wanli township chief and owner of the nearby Masu Coal Mine (瑪鋉煤礦). He is credited for overseeing the first seabed mining operation in Taiwan. The eclectic design combines a Baroque-influenced entry pavilion, red brick arcades, and intricate columns. It was likely abandoned shortly after Chen’s death in 1973 and the residence is now only hollow shell, the original wooden roof having collapsed long ago.
