Established in the Japanese colonial era as Tsūshō-gekijō (通霄假劇場). This was primarily a performance venue in its early history, likely made out of timber. It might have been renamed after the war, or perhaps it was demolished and rebuilt as a more modern building, as business records for a theater of the same name can be traced back to the 1970s.
