An obscure monument to Kakushi Oi (大井確士), a Japanese soldier who perished in the initial invasion of Taiwan (乙未戰爭) in 1895. It was originally erected in 1921, apparently paid for by Taiwanese townspeople, and later rebuilt at this location in 1941, as the war effort expanded. Access from a poorly maintained set of wooden stairs above the temple.
