A former Japanese immigrant village in the fertile Huadong Valley, laid out on a grid in what is now Shoufeng, Hualien. Settlers began arriving in 1913, making it the second such village in Taiwan, and by 1917 it was home to around 180 households and 912 residents. Several of its facilities survive, among them Fengtian Shinto Shrine, Fengtian Police Station, and Fengtian Elementary School.
