Neiwen Shinto Shrine (內文神社) - Spectral Codex

A former Shinto shrine built out of slate in a high mountain Paiwan Indigeneous village. The tribal chiefdom based here was known as Tjakuvukuvulj or Daguiwen (大龜文). During the war, as Imperial Japan recruited Takasago Volunteers from the many groups of Taiwaneese Indigenous people, a shrine was built here to ensure the souls of the deceased would return to their homeland. It is a long trek to visit, but the ruins of the site still exist! The same settlement has another Japanese colonial era monument to watch for (南番事件紀念碑).
