The remains of a village school in the Paiwan settlement of Zhukeng. It began in the Japanese colonial era as the Kowai Education Center (コワイ蕃童教育所), one of hundreds of police-run schools for Indigenous children, established around 1925 with around a dozen students. After the war it became a branch class of Fenglin Elementary School (楓林國小), one of four such branches added in 1952, and operated until it was closed in 1998.
