A modern cineplex tracing its roots back to an ad hoc theater built on the rooftop of a lumber mill in 1952. It became a purpose-built theater in 1966 and soon spawned several subsidiaries including Tiannan Theater (天南戲院), Zhengyi Theater (正義戲院), and Tianxin Theater (天心戲院). All these theaters were demolished to make space for a huge commercial building completed in 1988. This theater complex has long been the anchor of Sanchong’s sprawling entertainment district.
