Lieyu (烈嶼), also known as Lesser Kinmen (小金門), is a rural township situated at the westernmost edge of Kinmen County. The township consists of several islands, with Lesser Kinmen being the main island, alongside Dadan and Erdan islands. Its strategic position, merely 5,000 meters from mainland China’s coastline and within view of Xiamen, made it a critical military outpost during the Cold War period.
