Jinhu (金湖), meaning “Golden Lake”, is the largest township in Kinmen County by area, covering 41.7 square kilometers in the eastern part of Greater Kinmen Island. Originally named Canghu (滄湖) until 1953, the township includes several small offshore islets such as Dongding and Beiding islands. Jinhu’s landscape is characterized by its reservoirs, which are vital to the island’s water supply, and its scenic coastal areas.
