Jinning (金寧), meaning “Golden Tranquility”, is a rural township located in the central part of Greater Kinmen Island. The township holds significant historical importance as the site of the pivotal Battle of Guningtou (古寧頭) in October 1949, a conflict that helped secure Kinmen for the Republic of China forces. The township is home to several important historical sites, including Guningtou Battle Museum (古寧頭戰史館) and Beishan Broadcasting Wall (北山播音牆), which once transmitted propaganda messages to mainland China.
