Jinsha

Jinsha (金沙), meaning “Golden Sand”, is an urban township situated in the northeastern part of Greater Kinmen Island. As the second largest township in Kinmen County, covering approximately 41.3 square kilometers, Jinsha includes several small islets such as Cao Islet (草嶼) and Hou Islet (后嶼). The township’s northern coast at Mashan (馬山) lies just 1.8 kilometers from mainland China across rock-filled waters, giving it strategic significance. Jinsha is home to several cultural attractions, including the Kinmen Museum of History and Folklore (金門歷史民俗博物館) and Mashan Broadcasting Station (馬山播音站), which once served military purposes during periods of cross-strait tension.
