Established in 1953 as a branch of Xizhou Elementary School (溪洲國民學校), it spared the children of this hillside settlement in Qishan the long walk down the hill to the valley floor. The school became independent in 1959, reverted to branch status in 1986, and closed in August 1989 as the surrounding hills emptied out. Early classes numbered around 25 students, taught under the trees when the classroom proved too small. After a period of abandonment the school building now house a community library and playroom known as the Dream Happy Library (夢想歡樂圖書室).
