Completed in 1918 by Liu Awu (1884–1948), a Hakka immigrant from Guangdong who worked in the lumber trade in the Puli area. The residence features calligraphy by scholar Liu Xiaocun (劉曉村) and painted wood carvings by Liu Pei (劉沛), both from Shigang in Taichung. It is one of the few old residences in Puli to survive the 921 Earthquake.
