Formerly known as Aoting Temple (鰲亭宮), this was once the only large hall of worship on the Invisible Sky Street (不見天街), a covered arcade in the old downtown core of Lukang, Changhua. The city god was reportedly brought from Shishi (石獅) in Quanzhou by a merchant seeking divine help in catching a thief; the deity stayed after the culprit was apprehended. The front section was demolished in 1934 for Japanese colonial street improvements and replaced with a Western-style gable façade, only restored to traditional form in 1993–1997.
