Designed by Ruan Chao’ang (阮朝昂), a civil engineer with Kaohsiung Prefecture, this was reportedly the first Western-style building in the prefecture. The garden was once leased to the Red Cross for American doctors providing medical services to indigenous communities. Later renamed Yongxing Family Garden (永興家園) by then-Provincial Governor Lee Teng-hui. Damaged in Typhoon Morakot (2009).
