Established in the early Japanese colonial era as Kīrun-za, primarily a performance venue for traditional opera and other forms of live entertainment, in 1909. Years later it was regularly a venue for screening silent films with live narration by benshi (辯士). It was demolished sometime later in the post-war period and replaced by Wanguo Theater (萬國戲院). Also known as Kiran-gekijō (基隆劇場).
