One of several tobacco barns still standing in Mingli Village (明里村), where at least eight were built in the late Japanese colonial era to cure locally-grown tobacco. The industry expanded after 1949 and at its peak nearly every household in the village had a barn. This barn features two curing chambers with a distinctive raised dormer vent (太子樓), bamboo-and-earth walls, observation windows, and ventilation holes. Although no longer in use and not recognized as a heritage site this particular barn’s owner has a reputation for being friendly and welcoming visitors.
