Neifeng Elementary School opened in 1956 as a branch of Daping Elementary School (大坪國小), serving the Neiping (內坪) and Waiping (外坪) villages in the hills south of Beipu. It became an independent school in 1961, but was downgraded to a branch and abolished in 1982 as the area’s coal mines closed and residents drifted away. Throughout its brief operating history it graduated 436 students. The building began as a private tea factory, and the Wuzi Monument can be found on a nearby hillside.
