A military dependents’ village established in 1961 in Banqiao, with residents relocated from Shuangyuan New Village (雙園新村) near Nanjichang in Taipei. The name, meaning “great courtyard”, was reportedly chosen by Chief of Staff Peng Mengji (彭孟緝) to evoke the feeling of a large family. The original village was rebuilt by the Ministry of National Defense between 1991 and 1995 into Dating New City (大庭新城), now the largest military village community in New Taipei City.
