An unusual Buddhist temple on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in the Yan Nawa district of Bangkok. Thought to date to the late Ayutthaya or early Rattanakosin period, it takes its present name from Phraya Ratchasongkram, an official who helped restore it in the early 19th century. Construction of a new ordination hall and assembly hall began in 2008, and their Benjarong porcelain and stucco decoration includes figures from far beyond the Buddhist canon: cowboys, vikings, pharaohs, samurai, comic book heroes, and Western celebrities.
