A zhaitang (齋堂), or fasting hall, of the Longhua (龍華) branch of Zhaijiao (齋教), first established in 1765 at the residence of Li Puding (李普定) in Anping’s Haitou neighbourhood and relocated to the current site in 1799. It was the earliest Longhua hall in Taiwan and for a time the primary center of the faith’s propagation until its eventual decline saw that role pass to Dehua Hall. The hall has since been fully absorbed into mainstream Buddhism with Shakyamuni Buddha installed as its principal deity, and its present appearance dates from a 2009 rebuild.
