Remnants of a Japanese colonial era police garrison on the Nenggao Crossing Trail (能高越嶺道) in the mountains of Xiulin, Hualien. Situated at an elevation of around 2,210 meters east of the former Morinaka Garrison (森中駐在所). The site was named Asahi, or “morning sun”, for its eastward viewpoint overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Only scattered stone foundations and small artifacts such as sake bottles have been found at the site, which is heavily overgrown with dense forest after decades of neglect. Not to be confused with the Asahi Police Garrison of the southern Guanshan Crossing.
