Founded in 1916 by lumber merchants and timber yard workers in the Liaoguan (料館) area on the western margins of Wanhua. It was originally a private shrine in the home of lumber dealer Huang Jiangsheng but the community gradually expanded it into a public temple, adding altars to other gods such as Guangong along the way.
