The last remaining aimen (隘門) in Taipei was located a stone’s throw away from Longshan Temple (龍山寺). This security gate was built during the Qing dynasty era to discourage banditry at night and occasional outbreaks of violence between Han Chinese settler groups. In the later years of the 20th century a land god shrine (福德宮) was constructed above the gate, giving it a unique appearance. It was demolished in the early 2010s as part of a road widening project and only a tile mural of the site remains.
