A tributary upstream of Liyu Lake (鯉魚潭) in Shoufeng Township (壽豐鄉), known for fragments of Fengtian jade (豐田玉) scattered along the riverbed. During the Japanese colonial era, asbestos mining on nearby Laonao Mountain (荖腦山) unearthed nephrite deposits that were discarded as waste; their value was recognized in the 1960s, sparking a jade rush that made Fengtian (豐田) the source of 60% of the world’s nephrite at its peak. You can still find jade fragments here, though your chances improve further upriver.
