紙教堂

Japanese architect Shigeru Ban (坂茂) designed this hall of cardboard tubes in 1995 as a temporary meeting place for Takatori Catholic Church in Kobe, whose building had been destroyed in the Great Hanshin earthquake. When the parish rebuilt in 2005, the structure was dismantled and donated to Nantou County, which had been devastated by the 921 earthquake. It was rebuilt in the Taomi (桃米) community of Puli and has become a popular attraction into the 2020s.
