Established as a Sōtō Zen Buddhist teaching center for workers at the nearby sugar factory in 1914. It was greatly expanded in 1936. The rest of the temple complex has been demolished and rebuilt over subsequent decades but the main hall is still standing. Despite its obvious heritage value it is not recognized.
