Remains of a ramie processing factory and warehouse operated by the Matsumoto Ramie Company (松本苧麻會社), located about 100 meters south of Zhangyuan Elementary School along Provincial Highway 11. After the surrounding mountains were stripped of camphor trees by the nearby bureau branch office, the company recruited workers from western Taiwan to cultivate ramie on the cleared land, processing its fibers into material for sacks, rope, fishing nets, and military uniforms. The factory was bombed by the US military during World War 2 and only the outer walls survive.
