A small monument to the animals slaughtered at the former Banqiao Slaughterhouse (板橋屠宰場), erected on the grounds in 1933 at the initiative of a local meat vendor, Wu Yan (吳炎), who gathered fellow butchers to fund it. The stele now stands to the right of the entrance to the New Taipei City Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office (新北市政府動物保護防疫處), its inscription weathered and difficult to read behind a pane of glass.
