Originally established in 1919 as the Taiwan Governor-General College of Economics (臺灣總督府高等商業學校) and later renamed Taipei College of Economics (臺北經濟專門學校), this school was later transferred to National Taiwan University and repurposed as a law school. Regular operations mostly moved to the Gongguan campus in the mid-1990s and many of these old facilities have fallen into disrepair. There is also a newer modernist library on campus designed by architect Wang Da-hong (王大閎).
