A small Shinto shrine established in July 1925 at the summit of Yushan (玉山), Taiwan’s highest peak at 3,952 meters. The mountain was called Nītakayama (新高山) during the Japanese colonial era, meaning “New High Mountain”, as it was the tallest peak in the Japanese Empire. The shrine was dismantled sometime during the post-war period and no trace remains. Known as Nītaka-shi in the original Japanese.
