The Yilan headquarters of the National Center for Traditional Arts (國立傳統藝術中心), a Ministry of Culture agency for the preservation and teaching of traditional performing arts and crafts. Yilan County won the project from Hualien in 1991 by offering 24 hectares on the Dongshan River (冬山河) in Wujie, and the park opened in 2003. Alongside its stages and a recreated street of craft workshops, it preserves two buildings moved here in 2001 from Yilan City, where urban planning threatened them: Guangxiao Hall (廣孝堂), a Zheng family ancestral hall of 1925, and the Huang Juren Residence (黃舉人宅) of 1877.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
