The first McDonald’s location in Taiwan, this restaurant gained notoriety as the site of the 1992 McDonald’s bombing incident (麥當勞爆炸案), in which police officer Yang Jizhang (楊季章) was killed while attempting to defuse a bomb placed in the men’s restroom ceiling by an extortionist demanding money from the company. The restaurant has since been refurbished and there are no memorials or other signs of this dark history.
