Established in 1948 by Cai Jiangshu (蔡江樹), this small town wooden theater had a capacity of 400 when it was completed. It was originally called Shinbutai (新戲臺), literally “new stage”, but the townspeople gave it its more widely known name. In the early years of operation it was a traditional opera venue, eventually accommodating plays and then film screenings. Demolished without a trace in 1989.
