Originally established around 1755 but destroyed during the Japanese invasion of Taiwan. Local gentry built the reinforced concrete version of the structure in 1937, which was again modified in the post-war era. In 2000 it was recognized for its heritage value and after restoration efforts in the late 2010s it was reopened to the public.
