Meinong East Gate Tower (美濃東門樓) - Spectral Codex

Originally established around 1755 but destroyed during the Japanese invasion of Taiwan. Local gentry built the reinforced concrete version of the structure in 1937, which was again modified in the post-war era. In 2000 it was recognized for its heritage value and after restoration efforts in the late 2010s it was reopened to the public.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
