A former police garrison on a saddle of the west ridge of Yanglaoshan (養老山) in Jianshi, established along what is now the Syakaro Historic Trail (霞喀羅古道) in 1922 under Japanese colonial rule. It is named after Mawan, by tradition the first Tayal settler to clear land here. It became Ma’an Police Substation (馬鞍派出所) in the post-war era and was abandoned in 1959; only the foundation platform and fragments of rammed earth walls remain.
