Zhushan Taiji Canyon (太極峡谷) - Spectral Codex

An impressive canyon with a 400 meter drop to the bottom. Public interest exploded in the 1980s but the site was never very safe to visit and in 1986 a serious accident occurred and a group of 28 tourists were killed, leading to the closure of the canyon. The surrounding area has since been redeveloped for tourism but actual access to the canyon is still restricted. It was, for a time, referred to as the Taroko of the West.
