One of many Shinto shrines constructed in Indigenous settlements along the north coast of Hualien after the conclusion of the Truku War. Located against the hills at the back of what is now officially known as Kdasan, this former Shinto shrine was likely known as Ekadosan-shi in Japanese. It was completely overgrown and lost for decades but the site was cleared in the mid-2010s and eventually remade into Houshan Jueqi (後山蕨起), an Indigenous recreation center with archery and other activities for tourists.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
