Access to this tunnel was interrupted by damaged from debris flows during Typhoon Morakot (颱風莫拉克) and the 88 Flood (八八水災) in 2009. The road was later rebuilt around the tunnel leaving it abandoned. There is also a lone bridge pier in the river, remnants of the old bridge.
