The history of alcohol production in Hualien City extends back to the early 20th century with the establishment of what is now known as the old winery closer to the downtown core. This complex opened in Meilun Industrial Park in 1988, vastly expanding operations out here in eastern Taiwan. Nowadays operations continue, albeit scaled down and with many disused facilities in the area. Also known simply as Hualien Distillery in English.
