Built in 1952 as the welfare cooperative store (台鹽鹽工福利社) for workers at the Beimen Saltworks in Beimen, Tainan. This single-storey tiled building supplied daily necessities to the local salt industry workforce. Salt production at Beimen ended in 2001, and in 2003 the disused building was transferred to the county government and repurposed as a cultural center, its walls finished with locally gathered oyster shells and roof tiles. It later drew attention as a filming location for the 2005 television drama The Prince Who Turns Into a Frog (王子變青蛙), and now operates as a shop selling retro toys, snacks, and sundries.
