A large military dependents’ village of 600 households built in the Fuzhou (浮洲) area of Banqiao in 1957. It was established with the sponsorship of Soong Mei-ling (蔣宋美齡) and the National Women’s League (婦聯會) and was intended as a model village. It was almost completely destroyed by flooding from Shimen Reservoir (石門水庫) during Typhoon Gloria (葛樂禮颱風) in 1963. The site was later redeveloped into the Banqiao Veterans Home (板橋榮家).
