A Japanese colonial era police garrison (駐在所) located 300 meters south of Hezhong (和中), on the west side of Suhua Highway. The building is now a private residence but retains its complete wooden structure. The name derives from the Truku word Gukut, referring to a round stand used to stabilize a cooking pot, which describes the shape of the local terrain. This was among the earliest settlements established by the northward-migrating Truku people. Gūkutsu (グークツ) is also rendered as Gukusi (谷庫斯) and Wuguzi (吾谷子) in Chinese.
