One of many police garrisons on Guanshan Traversing Trail (關山越嶺古道), a security road built by the Japanese colonial government to suppress an uprising of the Bunun Indigenous peoples. It was established in 1920, shortly before the actual security road opened. In the post-war era it was renamed Liyuan Police Station (栗園派出所) and it continued to operate for a time. It closed in 1957 and has since been reclaimed by the forest.
