Dongyin (東引) is a rural township in Lienchiang County, situated at the northernmost point of Taiwan’s territory in the East China Sea. Located approximately 185 km from Keelung, it consists of two main islands, East Dongyin and West Dongyin, connected by a causeway. The township is characterized by its dramatic granite landscapes and distinctive coastal formations including sea caves, marine arches, and sea stacks. Historically significant as a strategic military outpost, Dongyin’s waters are the deepest around the Matsu Islands and host large schools of fish and coral reefs, making it one of Taiwan’s premier fishing spots.
