Lamma Island Kamikaze Cave (神風洞) - Spectral Codex

One of more than twenty artificial caves dug into Lamma Island’s southern coast during the late Japanese occupation of Hong Kong. It was built to conceal shinyō (震洋) suicide motorboats of the 35th, 36th, and 107th Special Attack Units. Despite the popular “kamikaze” nickname, which is exclusive to airforce units, each boat carried 250 kilograms of explosives meant to ram Allied vessels expected to retake the colony, though Japan’s August 1945 surrender meant none deployed. Three caves remain accessible today via a footpath from Lo So Shing beach.
