Changhua 彰化 is a triangular county in central central Taiwan bordering the big city of Taichung 台中 to the north, the mountainous Nántóu 南投 to the east, Yúnlín 雲林 to the south, and the Taiwan Strait to the west. Its capital is Changhua City 彰化市, located where the end of the Bagua Mountains slide beneath the plains, and Yuánlín 員林 is its fastest-growing urban center. Lukang 鹿港 is undoubtedly the foremost attraction in Changhua; this historic coastal town was one of the most important centers of trade and commerce for much of the Qing dynasty era.
